Thanks, Robert, for your helpful information and prompt responses.

I agree with NEC that tablet weight and (to a lesser extent) thickness are critical for the product to really take off with mainstream users, even if it means a tradeoff in disk space or other features that power users crave. I like that the LitePad's writing surface is very near the screen--I bet the pointing accuracy feels much more natural than with other brands. The lack of a PC card slot makes me a little nervous, but I guess CF and USB 2.0 cover all the bases.

Is it true that the LitePad's hardware will not have the ability to dock? Having to plug in a keyboard, mouse, ethernet, power, and peripherals sounds like a lot of work.

Well, we expect most people will use wireless networking with Tablets (even though we include an Ethernet port).

I have a keyboard that I plug into mine. That's one cord (I also have a mouse that plugs into my keyboard). USB port replicators are out there and are plentiful. So, for all your USB devices, you should only need to plug one thing in.

Power is a second one.

We do have a USB port bar which has these ports:

2 PS/2 ports (keyboard and mouse)
1 RS232 (Comm - Serial)
1 Parallel (Printer)
1 RJ-45 (Ethernet)
2 USB Ports

The part number on that is: OP-560-74702, but you'd still need to plug some things in (like power and an external monitor, if you have one of these).
