One of my friends is in US till 8th so I have to make decision quickly (I am from India).

But have one question, I noticed earlier on this thread that the edges of some tablets were cracking and breaking apart. Is this still going on?

The reason I am going with Motion is because Compaq has way too many problems with pens and wireless, I cannot afford such problems as they said they wont ship replacement pens to India in case such problem crops up, they will only ship to US.

How is the wireless with Motion? What average range do you get?

Last but not the least, what places have them in stock? If I go through Motion site I saw that it might take upto 3/3/03 to get the package, is that a definate date? I cannot afford to get a shipment later than 8th of March.

Any input would be appreciated.

You missed the 3/3 batch. An order placed by noon next Wednesday, 2/26, would be targeted for delivery around 3/10.

We are still getting an occasional report of cracks on the endcap. This is important to us, and we continue to work to find the best solution. We have changed the manufacturing process, and we are looking at new materials.

Any tablet with this problem must be sent back to swap out the endcap -- it is not a customer repair.

Infocater is one reseller that tries to keep Motion tablets in stock. They have a banner ad on this site, so you can ask them.

Thanx for considering our tablet!

Wireless range is great IMO. I don't know the range exactly but my Linksys router is under my desk in my downstairs study. I get a 'very good' connection with my Motion in my bedroom, which is upstairs (not directly over the study either).

Very happy with the wireless.

I'd also think that having access to Motion staff on this forum would be of great value.

The wireless performance is great! It has better range than my laptop with built in wireless and my other laptop with a wireless PC Card!

I guess I will wait for second generation, I really hoped I could get it this time but oh well. I am going to CeBit in Hannover so I expect to see what those devices look like.

I really cannot afford major problems like end caps cracking off or pens failing (in case of compaq) :(

Sometimes I hate to be in India, maybe I will move :/
