How many of you have got the Flexdock docking station? I'm looking for opinions on how useful/essential you think it is.

I've ordered a Flexdock so far, but am leaning heavily on changing my order to a 60GB upgrade for the same $$... Had originally intended to wait for the Travelstar 80GN or one of the Toshiba 5400 rpm 16MB buffer drives, but both are impossible to find in stock.

Thanks in advance!

I got mine without the Flexdock. I hadn't had my Motion 3 days before I was tired of unplugging and re-plugging the devices everytime I left/returned to my office. I ordered one so I would suggest keeping it. Also, I have the 40G hard drive and I've loaded a ton of software on mine and I'm still only at around 15G. I've even synchronized My Documents from my Desktop. Besides, if you have the CD Burner you can store large or infrequently accessed file off-line.

I have the docking station, and agree with brammerf. I wouldn't go so far as to say its "essential", but it is definitely convenient if you use peripherals at all regularly. Eg, I keep a set of speakers attached to it, besides the keyboard, a mouse, and the DVD drive, and it's nice to be able to just drop my Tablet into it when I'm at home. If you plan on using a second monitor at all, you'll want it for that too.

I'm thinking of ordering the docking station too. Plugging and unplugging everything is getting old.

I couldnt live without my docking station. I would go so far as to say it is essential. Not only is unplugging annoying, but I find the device unstable on the plastic stand.... You have to offset it in landscape mode to accomodate the keyboard and CD inputs and it sometimes is 'sideheavy' on that side.

The dock is well built, and pull-and-go even with the firewall CD installed.

I second the instability of the stand. I almost forgot how many times I've almost dumped the Motion over the back of my desk messing with the USB connections. I don't know if there are any pictures of the stand, but it is a very light weight peice of plastic. Hardly worthy of holding a $2500 machine.

I use the stand when on the go, and find it very useful. But I agree with the general sentiment; I couldn't use the tablet without the dock. When I leave in the morning, the flexibility of just grabbing the tablet and leaving is paramount; I've been thinking about getting a second one for work...

would I have to take off the executive leather case to use the dock?

I think you would have to remove the case. I don't have the dock and my case is on the way, but based on what I saw at a Gateway store, there's no way the Motion will dock while it's in the case.

Yes the case (any of the cases including the hard case) must come off to go in the dock.
