I get the following message when trying to run a report within a portfolio management software named Centerpiece. “Failed to negotiate connection with server. Connection to server failed. The operation system error code is 0x0.”

This software works fine on a Toshiba Tecra but not on my Toshiba Portege M205 running Tablet PC. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a networking problem rather than an M205 problem. Does this always fail on the Portege?

Are both the Tecra and the Portege running Windows XP Service Pack 2? Centerpiece may be one of the many apps that will have to release an update to work correctly with Windows SP2 communications.

Our network consultant is stumpped. It would seem like a network problem from the error message but so far no success on making changes. Both the Tecra and M205 are both using SP2 and Centerpiece has posted a patch for SP2. Our network consultant has an Acer Tablet Pc and got the same error messages when he installed and tried to run a report. Both machines are contected to the same network running Windows 2000 NT.

Trowland,

Do you have to map the network drive first before setting up the software? I had a customer that had another portfolio management program (forgot the name) but in order to do a network setup, I had to map the network drive before setting up the program. Also, in the settings, I had to make sure the individual file folders that were going to be used (accounts, clients..etc) were all on the same drive letter. With this particular program, the default setup was to assign all the folders to C: .

Thanks for your interest. Their website is http://www.schwabpt.com/. I will talking with my network consultants today and sharing the suggestions. Tim
