Paul, the release notes for the BIOS update state as follows: "NOTE prior to updating to the A04 BIOS, the customer must verify the AuthenTec Driver installed is not version 6.26.1.0." My driver is 6.23.0.0 (even though my M1400VA is only a couple weeks old.) Do I have to do anything before installation?

Regarding the Intel driver:

I knew I was going to have problems when, after the install, the software made me re-enter my network key. Then it asked me if I wanted the intel software to take over management of the wireless from XP. I responded yes, and although the software indicated that I had a wireless connection, I couldn't access the internet.

I couldn't figure out what to do, so I uninstalled the driver - which apparently does not restore the old driver, so I had no wireless driver.

Then, I re-installed the new driver and this time said NO to Intel management of the wireless. It's working now, although it's not clear that it's any better than before I did the "upgrade."

I'd love any comments on what went wrong.

Is there any chance that the new audio driver fixes problems and conflicts with dragon speech and the arrays? (Just a hope !)

I noticed and applied all these updates last night. Though my experiences differed slightly from the published instructions, I encountered no problems. I, too, had to re-enter my WEP key, but I connected readily at that point. The new Intel wireless driver's power settings control features are nice; one could eek out a bit more battery life by reducing power during use in strong-signal areas (e.g. at home).

I can't comment on the audio side of things; I haven't gotten that far with my new (aready outdated--713 processor ) toy yet.

jst,

Sorry for the tardy reply... If you are curently at 6.23.0.0 the Bios update should work fine. You should still update the OmniPass software to 3.01.36 which would take you up to 6.25.0.0 Authentec driver. It does not really matter if you update before or after doing the BIOS update...
