Does anyone have the current price of the 1.7GHz Banias vs the 1.8GHz Dothan? Not that Toshiba won't really rake everyone over for the new processor, but just as a comparison point?

Not trying to threadjack, but I just got off the phone with a Toshiba rep. He of course had no idea that Toshiba was releasing new M200's, but when he went to check, he said that they wouldnt be out for a 'few weeks.' I also asked him what the price is for them, and he said that they would probably be a little bit more than what the current prices are now, but the Banias based ones will have a price drop. No details, no specifics, but I guess this is information that everyone already knew.
Newegg - 1.8GHZ Dothan $429.00
Pricewatch - Intel-Mobile Pentium 4 1.7GHz/512K/400 478 pin. OEM. $149 (the only mobile 1.7GHZ proc I saw on Pricewatch)

That seems different from what everyone else has been saying. Others have said that the Banias chips will simply be replaced by the new Dothan chips and the reason for the wait that we are experiencing is for Toshiba to sell out all the leftover Banias models. Obviously Toshiba hasn't given all their Customer Service people the same info. I will call later today to find out what I can.

Awperator, no problem, didn't think you were threadjacking at all...

If the current 1.7's are ~$300 cheaper than the 1.8 and Toshiba is charging +$200 for the 1.7's now, I could see a 1.6 Dothan at the same price as the current 1.5, +$500 for the 1.7 and +$800 for the 2.0...wouldn't surprise me at all.

I see on NewEgg that:

Dothan:
-------
1.7GHz $299
1.8GHZ $429
2.0GHz $639 (ETA 6/29)

Banias (from CNet):
-------------------
1.7GHz ~$330

So Toshiba could just provide a 1.7 Dothan to replace the current 1.7 (for the $200 existing premium) and then add $200 more for the 1.8 Dothan, and another $300 for the 2.0. This would make the base tablet (currently $2278 with 1.5 processor) with just the processor changing cost:

$2478 with 1.7 Dothan (the 1.7 Banias and 1.7 Dothan are about the same cost.)
$2678 with 1.8 Dothan
~$2978 with 2.0 Dothan

This does not include any upgrades to the HD, etc.

Wow, if this is the case, I might just get the 1.7 Banias now and save the money. You know that Toshiba is not going to just "give" the Dothans away to sell tablets. There will have to be some price increase.
